Thanks for your interest in referee ministries for Upward Sports. Each season consists of 8 game days on Saturdays, beginning January 21 through March 11, 2023. Below are all the resources you need to succeed as a referee (and more coming soon).
The Rules buttons below are what make different age levels different. However, the full set of principles, rules and procedures will be covered in a short training session. Click below to get started. |
Referee Information at the NazThere are six hours of games spanning about 1 hour each. Start times are 8:30, 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30 & 1:30 pm. Please be 30 minutes early to your start time to get settled in, check-in with other refs and coordinator. Games will begin with a prayer from the lead ref, both courts simultaneously. Then team line-ups, etc. 6 periods consist of 6 minutes each, 1 minute breaks and 10 minute half-time. A coordinator(s) will be on-site to keep things rolling along. Refs will help enforce a fairly firm schedule.
We have different divisions of players. Games for 1-2 grade boys/girls will follow Level 2 rules. Games for 3-4 grade boys/girls will follow Level 3 rules. At the Naz, the first three hours of games will be 1-2 girls and 3-4 grade girls. The last three hours of games will only be 3-4 grade boys. Our goal is for 2-3 refs on the floor at all times per court: 2 court refs and 1 assistant/backup/trainee. Refs usually take a 3.75 hour time shift and stick with that for the whole season. We would ask each ref to commit to at least 5 game dates. Your help is greatly appreciated! |
